CD versions of “Be in my Heart”
& “Go for it”
If you read my last newsletter, you would have noticed a gig in Weybridge (Surrey) for the Caron Keating Foundation and The Cliff Richard Tennis Foundation,
Tony Rivers called me to see if I would join him & his son Anthony, to do a three man show for the event, doing a medley of Cliff hits especially from the time we were with him, i.e.. Devil Woman, We Don’t talk, etc etc... I was really up for this & even went to Spain to rehearse !! (Tony lives there)
The night turned out to be a phenomenal success, the opening act being "The Overtures" ( www.theovertures.com) & we top of the bill. The Overtures just fresh from playing Eton John's wedding, were totally fantastic & we had to follow them. Thankfully with our very danceable Cliff medleys, harmony & the audiences alcohol consumption it all worked out very well !!. Tony Rivers didn't disappoint as the charismatic front man, & lots of money was raised for the charity's. A fantastic time was had by all.
In my case luckily it’s all (well mostly) good... I had a phone call recently from a friend who asked me “did you ever sing for STEVE HACKETT?" ex lead guitarist for GENESIS. I told him with some satisfaction I had, & on asking why, was informed that Steve had re-issued a version of “NARNIA” that I had sang way back when..... Apparently “Narnia” sung by John Perry is included as a BONUS track on Steve’s “PLEASE DON’T TOUCH” album.. Details can be found at:
Talking of Video’s ...... my 60's group “GRAPEFRUIT” has one out there recorded for “BEAT CLUB” a German TV Program. This was originally on You Tube, but for some reason has been discontinued. But I tracked it down to: http://www.musicbrigade.com/templates/FeaturesPage____4452.aspx
Go down the page to 07 & click.... You will see a VERY young John Perry singing “C’mon Marianne” t’is very scary!!
PS. Mind your ears when I sing the high note at the end....!!
Return visit in 2006 to DETLING BIBLE WEEK.
This time leading worship on the last 3 days of the event in the morning. Once again a great time at a great camp. Among the main speakers were R.T.Kendall, John Paul Jackson, Dan & Mary Southerland who seem like old friends now, & of course Eric. I really enjoyed all that the speakers had to offer, & especially enjoyed leading the morning sessions with that great DETLING band I told you about last newsletter....Continues to be busy:Over the years we’ve had many talented people in the studio. I thought I’d list out a few to give you a feel of who we’ve been helping at Heart Studio’s.
1) Paul Oakley 2) Out of the Ark 3) Bernie Armstrong
4) Josh Ramos 5) Neil Blain 6) Teresa Brown
The future may well see us featuring our artists albums, using mp3's etc & providing a purchasable download facility. Watch this space !
Meeting Robert Duncan of "Drop the Dead Donkey" fame was also a personal highlight !!
